Group History

SUICIDOL was formed by a semi-popular music producer, known as Melancholia. His goal was to delve into a different kind of music from his usual, which up until that point had been a lot of heavy metal. Inspired by groups like BABYMETAL and BiS, he sought to create an alternative idol project of his own. Auditions were held online through a series of emails and instant-messaging services, and prospective members were evaluated based on vocal performance, dance ability, physical appearance, and personality. He got in touch with an experienced idol manager, who (following SUICIDOL's formation) goes by the moniker The Doctor. The Doctor oversees management of the group, to give Melancholia time and space to focus on creating music.

Melancholia settled on a three-member group to begin with, keeping an open mind about adding more members later, although his stance on this gradually shifted, and a second round of auditions was never held. The three girls that made it through were Robin Baird, Akina Kasai, and Mercuri Daedalus. Various names for the group floated about during their pre-debut stage, such as Poster Girls, Random Access Memory (RAM for short, the members' initials), dead girls walking, and many others - but eventually they settled on SUICIDOL. The members then picked stage names to reflect their membership, and, if they preferred, to conceal their legal names. Mercuri, the leader, goes by MERCURICIDE, naming herself Mercuri Black. Robin goes by CALLOWCIDE, naming herself Robs Callows. Akina goes by KASAICIDE, and kept her legal name of Akina Kasai.

Social media accounts for the group were created, and they drummed up a lot of excitement for their debut. Melancholia starting up an idol group was something that got a lot of people's attention. They debuted on April 1st, 2022 as the final act of a taiban, with a 25 minute set with all of their songs at the time. They sold their debut EP at the same event, and it hit streaming the next day. Since then, they've grown considerably in recognition, able to perform several three- and two-man shows, and a handful of their own one-man shows. Currently, they perform about twice weekly at various underground taiban events.

Member History

As an idol group, not much is known about the personal lives of the members prior to their joining, aside from bits and pieces they've shared on social media. However, their music history is common knowledge of the die-hard stans (or anyone who frequents idol wikis).

Mercuricide, the leader and most popular member, had moderate success posting both covers and original music on various music and video sharing websites. Her old channels are all still active, with her screen name updated to reflect her current stage name. She still posts on occasion, and does occasional streams of her just chilling out playing bass, chatting with her audience.

Prior to SUICIDOL, Callowcide on occasion uploaded vocal covers of songs she liked. She was a member of a few cover groups made up mostly of her friends, which she would do art, videos, and some mixing for. She was young at the time (13-17) and wiped as much of it from the internet as she could, but some of it survived. She's since remade her old channels and often uploads clips of herself singing the same songs, though with much more polish. There was a time shortly after SUICIDOL'S debut when her old mp3s got passed around inpatients who kamioshi her like trading cards, but once she caught wind of it, she politely asked them to stop. Whether they actually did or not, she's never been sure, but she doesn't really think about it much.

Kasaicide has a similar story, though she was more into making vocal synthesizer covers than singing with her actual voice. She had a small following, but not as much compared to Robs or Mer. Her old channel still exists with old videos still intact, but she's refurbished it into a channel where she mostly posts videos of her orange cat, Smokey, doing silly things. And the occasional SUICIDOL vlog featuring her other members.
